A new partnership between one of Australia’s best known dairy brands and a niche co-operative will see another player vying for milk in Victoria’s south west.
The independent, farmer-owned Australian Dairy Farmers Co-operative (ADFC) has entered into a new long-term agreement to supply quality milk to leading dairy company, Bulla Dairy Foods.
ADFC Chairman, Scott Sieben, said it is an exciting time for farmers. “Our co-operative is passionate about ensuring farmers get the best price at the farm gate. Bulla is showing its commitment to local farmers by joining forces with us to put farmers first and ensure quality milk is going into Bulla’s premium brands.”
Bulla talks to one of the men behind the milk, Michael Roache...
We spoke with ADFC Director and Farmer Michael Roache about 43 years of farming in Colac, what he loves most about Bulla and how the ADFC partnership will secure the future of the local industry.
After 43 years of working a stone’s throw from Bulla’s Colac sites, Michael Roache has come to know our Bulla family quite well. Together with his wife Loretta, Michael manages a herd of approximately 550 Friesian cattle in Nalangil, and is a part of the forty farmers who’ll supply us with around 90 million litres of milk this year.
“Seeing Bulla and the ADFC partner together is a great achievement for our co-operative and shows long term commitment to local farmers. Bulla has always been held in high regard in the local area; a passionate and authentic brand with great integrity,” Michael explained.
“This partnership shows us how dedicated Bulla is to keeping us farmers in business. The deal itself secures our families futures, and shows other companies how direct to farmer purchasing can work on a large scale.”
Michael continued, “We’ve already started supplying Bulla factories with our product, that travels no further than most staff would to work each day. It’s an exciting time for both parties!”
…and when we asked how he likes to enjoy his favourite Bulla product? “You can’t go past Creamy Classics – you can taste the quality and flavour. It’s pure dairy goodness, best enjoyed with a spoon straight from the tub.”
