About Bulla Dairy Foods

Introduction

Bulla Dairy Foods is an Australian owned family company. We have been making premium quality dairy products in country Victoria since 1910 and have passed down our traditional dairy skills through the same Australian family for five generations. Today, all Bulla products still have the same delicious unmistakable taste of real dairy, country goodness.

Bulla History - 1910

1910

Thomas Sloan established Bulla Cream Co. at Moonee Ponds, a Melbourne suburb, where milk was pasteurised by standing open cream cans in coppers fired by wood. He pioneered the technique of thickening cream and the same method is still used to this day. Cream was collected from the country region of 'Bulla' and then transported by horse and cart to the city and the now famous Bulla brand was born.

Tom Sloan's brother-in-law Hugh Anderson joined the partnership and Hugh's brother, Jack later joined them. Descendants of the same Australian families still own the company today.

The Colac operations were opened and the Colac Ice Work and Regal Cream Products were purchased. The manufacturing base has remained in Colac ever since. Colac is a provincial town located in the heart of some of Australia's best dairy country in Victoria's western district. Blessed by rich and fertile soil, it provides Bulla with an abundance of first quality milk and cream from which to make its fine dairy produce.
